Located on the eastern edge of downtown Omaha, just a few blocks from the Kiewit Luminarium and with views of the river, the new Omaha Children's Museum will be a vibrant space designed with the latest insights in early childhood development. The museum will offer a variety of exhibits and programs designed to inspire joy, curiosity, and connection for young children and their families.
Building on over 40 years of tradition, the new museum will expand into a four-story facility that prioritizes inclusivity and fun. Aimed at children from birth to age 8, the museum will feature multiple exhibit areas, a 175-seat performance space, a café, and a play-workshop area.
The adventure begins outside, where the plaza features rubberized mounds that encourage visitors to climb and explore before they even step inside. Once inside, the experience continues to be engaging, as the building’s layout turns movement into part of the fun, with swirling railings and staircases that guide visitors through the space. The design seamlessly integrates accessibility, playfulness, and interactive exhibits, creating a dynamic, immersive environment.
